Change in Competition Schedule

On September 28th the CHS Band is scheduled to attend the Dobyns Bennet contest in Kingsport, TN. Due to circumstances out of my control that festival has been cancelled, which leaves us with an open date. At rehearsal yesterday we had our seniors vote on what they wanted to do that weekend. After looking at all options our seniors voted to attend the Chilhowie Apple Festival that weekend. The Chilhowie contest is in its 61st year and has a great slate of judges so it should prove to be a good learning experience for our band. Call time for game and Booster Meeting

Call time this friday is 4:30pm for the Castlewood game. Band shirt, blue jeans, belt and tennis shoes. We have another booster meeting for band festival planning on September 17th at 6:30pm. We need as many parents as possible to be there. The Lonesome Pine Band Festival is one of the biggest in southwest Virginia, it will not work unless we have parents there to help!

Important Booster meeting September 3

Band Parents, please mark your calendar! Very important Booster meeting Tuesday September 3. This meeting we will discuss the needs of our band contest  We have a little over a month before the Lonesome Pine Band Festival which is October 5. This festival will not succeed unless we have "all hands on deck!" Save the date, Tuesday, September 3 at 6:30pm

Communication

Band Parents: you should have received a letter from your student today explaining the different ways you can stay informed on band events and schedules. One of course is the central band website, another is our Facebook page. We are also introducing a new text message service called Remind101. This is a free service where you can sign up to receive text message alerts from me to your phone. This is another way to stay informed on things such as rehearsal schedule, call times for football games, contests and fundraiser order pick up times. Instructions on signing up are included in the letter your student picked up. If they were not present, set up is easy. 

Send a text message to 276-708-7958. In the body of the message type @22415. I have different accounts for parents and students but you can sign up for either. Again, this is free and your information is kept private. Standard text rates apply per whatever plan you have with your service provider. With how hectic everyone's life is I believe it is best to have as many communication options as possible. Email me with any questions.

Full Band-Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 3:45-6
Percussion Sectionals-Wednesday 3:45-5 (battery and front ensemble students)
