The following information is meant to serve as an overview of the trip we are taking to perform at the Southern Star Music Festival in Atlanta, GA. We are leaving via charter bus on Thursday April 4th at 7am and will be returning Sunday April 7th around 5pm.
First it is important for students and chaperones to understand that the rules and regulations set by Wise County School District apply at all times during this trip. Think through any decision you make in regards to behavior and activities. All all times during the trip you are representing Central High School and Wise County. This includes how you behave in the hotel rooms. I expect everyone to act with the Pride and Professionalism we come to expect from our students.
WHAT DO I BRING?
-casual clothes for four days.
-concert black dress clothes for the performance.
-YOUR INSTRUMENT (percussion all mallets needed, woodwinds bring extra reeds)
-Your performance music and folder.
-enough spending money for four days. Breakfast is provided everyday, you also get ONE meal ticket for one meal in Six Flags. Plan to pay for at least one meal per day on the trip.
-any toiletries/personal items for a four day trip including any medications you may need regularly.
-a good attitude and sense of accountability. This trip is going to be alot of fun, just remember that YOU are accountable for your choices and behavior.
CHAPERONESAND GROUPS
We do have chaperones attending this trip, it is expected that students provide them the same respect you would give to Wise County School teachers or your own parents. We would not be able to take this trip if it weren't for their willingness to attend. If a chaperone gives you instructions, do not question their authority or decision making. JUST DO IT. While at any of the trip events make sure you are near a chaperone. They are there to have fun with you just like everyone else. They can also help you if any problems arise.
One very important rule throughout the entirety of this trip is DO NOT GO ANYWHERE ALONE. Even if it is a quick trip to the restroom ask a friend to go with you. Always stay in groups and stay near a chaperone leading the group. This is for your safety, Atlanta is a very large city with a high crime rate. So always stay in a group and look out for each other to make sure you don't lose anyone.
