When we are on a two hour delay-JW Adams students do not come to the high school. LF Addington students will come to the high school

2014 Spring Semester Schedule for Central High School Band Students

I hope all of you had a restful holiday and are enjoying the new facilities provided by our school district! We have an opportunity few students in Wise County have enjoyed. Brand new, state of the art facilities with great rehearsal and storage space. It is important that we maintain the condition of our building. Not only does this reflect upon the pride of our program but this set up the future of our program to be successful. Because of this there will be NO FOOD or DRINK allowed in the new Bandroom.

The following gives you an overview our the spring schedule for the high school band. Some of the events listed do not involve all band students. If you are unsure on whether some events apply to you, please ask Mr. Brown as soon as possible. Rehearsal times and dates are VERY important. We must have 100% attendance at rehearsals in order to be a successful band.


Beginning Tuesday January 21 CHS Concert Band will have after school rehearsals at the new Central HS Bandroom every Tuesday from 4pm-6pm. Students in the Concert Band will be responsible for showing up to every rehearsal and performing at District Concert Assessments, the Annual Spring Concert and several other school assemblies and functions. The Concert Band is the premiere performance ensemble for our school and attendance is required for all band students.

Beginning Wednesday January 22 Mr. Brown will be giving in individual lessons at the new Bandroom for students who wish to receive individual instruction from 4pm-6pm. This is open to all students from CHS, LFA and JWA.

Beginning Thursday March 20 the CHS Percussion Ensemble will rehearse in the new Bandroom every Thursday from 4pm-6pm. Students in the Percussion Ensemble will be responsible for showing up to every rehearsal and performing in Solo and Ensemble Festival, the Annual Spring Concert and other assemblies and special events.

Beginning Wednesday April 2 the CHS Jazz Band will rehearse in the new Bandroom every Wednesday from 4pm-5:30pm. Performances and rehearsal will be gauged upon attendance to rehearsals and student interest.

All State Auditions: Saturday February 22 @ JMU
VBODA Concert Assessments: Wednesday March 12 or Thursday March 13 @ VHS
VBODA Solo and Ensemble Festival: Tuesday May 6 @ Holston HS
Central HS/LF Addington Spring Concert & Banquet: Tuesday May 13 6pm @CHS
Marching Band "Icebreaker" Rehearsal: Thursday May 15 4pm-6pm @CHS

Wise All County PACE Band Clinic. Friday January 17-Saturday January 18

Reminder to students that a schedule of our semester events will be distributed on Monday. Those students who were selected for the Wise County PACE Band, our clinic is coming up next Friday and Saturday. The clinic and concert are at Coeburn Middle School and we are taking a bus from the new high school. The agenda is as follows: 

Friday January 17 

The clinic is 8:30am-6pm. we will be traveling via bus and leaving the new high school at 8:30am Lunch will be provided, bus will be back at the new high school by 6:30. 

Saturday January 18

Leaving high school for rehearsal via bus at 8:30am. Lunch is provided and the concert is at 3pm.

Our clinician is Dr. Christian Zembower, Director of Bands at ETSU. You have a great clinician and I don't think you will be disappointed with the selections. 

Next week schedule (VERY IMPORTANT)

Next week the gears will start turning for school to start. Monday January 6 beginning at 9am we will move one more load to the new school. We need as much help as possible from students and parents. Tuesday January 7 we have a brief rehearsal for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Meet at the new Bandroom at noon. Wednesday January 8 report time for the ceremony is 3pm. Dress is professional, dress clothes and tie. This is a very important ceremony, it is important we represent ourselves well. School board officials, television crews and town officials will all be present.
